Kidney Stone Clinic
Kidney stone care is where our practice began. Most stones today are treated through the natural urinary passage using fine telescopes and laser, so there is no cut on the body and most people go home within a day or two.
What we treat
- Kidney stones
- Ureteric stones causing pain or blockage
- Bladder stones
- Recurrent stone formers — prevention plans
Procedures
RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery)
A flexible telescope passed through the urinary passage reaches the kidney; the stone is broken with laser. No incision.
URS with laser lithotripsy
A thin telescope reaches stones in the ureter, which are fragmented with laser and removed.
PCNL / Mini-PCNL
For large kidney stones: a keyhole access of a few millimetres directly into the kidney.
DJ stent placement and removal
A temporary soft tube that keeps urine draining from the kidney.
Stone analysis and metabolic evaluation
Finding out why stones form, to lower the chance of new ones.
